At our school, we deliver the NSW curriculum through a diverse range of subjects designed to support each student’s learning journey. We recognise that strong literacy and numeracy skills are fundamental building blocks for both academic success and everyday life. Our experienced teachers employ effective, explicit teaching strategies to help students reach their individual goals.

At SMIS, we are committed to providing a high-quality education that nurtures every student’s potential. Our dedicated teachers, alongside our valued School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), utilise evidence-based approaches to engage students and tailor learning to their unique needs.

Why choose us for your child’s learning?

Strong foundations

At SMIS, we prioritise developing the essential skills and competencies your child needs to thrive both in school and beyond. These foundational abilities equip students not only for academic success but also for life’s diverse challenges—whether in relationships, the workplace, or personal growth. By fostering these skills, we help your child build confidence and resilience, preparing them to navigate their future with assurance and adaptability.

High-quality education

At our school, high quality education encompasses the whole child- inspiring each student to discover their passions and reach their goals. Our skilled teachers support every student to thrive in a learning environment that fosters high expectations, resilience and independence. All students are guided and supported to find what they love, do their best and succeed.

Inclusive and personalised learning

At SMIS, we specialise in Kindergarten to Year 2 education, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child’s unique needs are embraced. Our skilled teachers personalise learning to suit each student’s interests, abilities, and pace, ensuring all children feel confident and supported.

We adapt our teaching methods and resources to engage every learner, fostering not only academic skills but also social and emotional growth. By partnering with families, we provide a strong foundation that inspires a lifelong love of learning and prepares children for future success.

Extension opportunities

Some students are ready for more challenges. Through open-ended learning experiences and personalised support, we encourage every student to explore their potential and develop a lifelong love of learning. We offer open-ended tasks, enrichment programs and support.

As part of Project Humble, Students have the opportunity to learn about beekeeping and sustainability, and to help sell honey produced through the program. Although the bees are not kept at our school, students are actively involved in learning about the process and the importance of caring for the environment.

We also offer cooking and gardening as part of our Kitchen Garden Initiative with Phoenix Park Farm. Students build practical life skills, learn about healthy living, and deepen their understanding of where food comes from. These hands-on experiences foster teamwork, responsibility, and a strong connection to nature and the land.

Our skilled teachers also run STEM challenge days across the year. This gives students the opportunity to engage in open-ended, interest based, challenging learning tasks which promote problem solving, teamwork, and leadership skills.
